Privacy Policy

Marked is a place to keep words worth remembering. We designed it so your quotes and notes stay yours: the app works offline, does not require an account, and does not run its own cloud service.

1. Your content stays on your device

Quotes, notes, authors, sources, tags, reminder preferences, and search data are stored locally on your device. Marked does not upload this content to our servers, use it for advertising, or sell it to anyone.

Marked uses a private shared area on your device so its Share extension and widgets can show the content you choose. This shared area is only available to Marked and its own extensions.

2. Photos, camera, and text recognition

If you choose to import a photo or use the camera for text recognition, the image is processed on your device using Apple’s built-in technology. Marked does not upload the image or the recognized text. Images are not kept by Marked unless you separately save an image you create to your Photos library.

Camera and Photos access are requested only when you start the related feature. You can change these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

3. Links you choose to share

When you explicitly add or share a web link, Marked may ask the linked website for basic preview information such as its title. This request is made only for the link you selected. Your saved quotes and notes are not sent with that request.

4. Purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Marked uses RevenueCat to help provide, restore, and verify Premium access. RevenueCat may process an anonymous app identifier, purchase status, product information, and technical information needed to operate purchases. Marked does not send your quotes, notes, authors, sources, URLs, or search terms to RevenueCat.

Apple handles payment details; Marked never receives or stores your payment card information.

5. Notifications and widgets

Reminder schedules and the lightweight information needed by widgets are stored on your device. Notifications are scheduled by iOS. Marked does not use a server to send your reminders.

6. What we do not collect

• Accounts, names, email addresses, or contact lists
• Your quote, note, author, source, URL, or search content
• Advertising identifiers or data for targeted advertising
• Cloud backups or cross-device syncing through Marked

7. Data retention and your choices

Your content remains on your device until you delete it, delete all Marked data in the app, or remove the app. You can prepare an export from Settings before deleting your data. Removing the app may remove locally stored Marked data, so export anything you want to keep first.

Purchase records are handled by Apple and RevenueCat according to their own policies. You can manage subscriptions in your Apple ID settings.

8. Children’s privacy

Marked is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. Because Marked does not require an account or upload your saved content, we do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through the app.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Marked’s features or legal requirements change. We will post the updated version here and revise the date at the top of this page.
